Truth, Beauty, and Goodness are ideals known as "the transcendentals" which originate in ancient Greek philosophy. They aren't abstract concepts, rather they are ontological properties of Being that point to the true nature of reality. This is why they're called the transcendentals—they help us to go beyond the material as well as the egoic distortions of [[Psychological Defence Mechanisms]].
- **Truth (The way of the intellect or knowledge):** Aligning and being with what is real and what is true, allowing us to perceive reality as it is.
- **Beauty (The way of the heart or emotion):** A love and appreciation for what is, leading to the cultivation of inspiration, joy and creativity.
- **Goodness (The way of the will or action):** A commitment to virtues that contribute to the well-being of the greater good.

> “Truth, goodness, and beauty are the three things we all need, and need absolutely, and know we need”; truth relates to the mind, goodness to the will, and beauty to the heart, feelings, desires, or imagination. “These are the only three things that we never get bored with, and never will, for all eternity, because they are attributes of God, and therefore of all God’s creation: three transcendental or absolutely universal properties of all reality.” — C.S. Lewis
